All About Soul Winning- culled from the Rhapsody
of Realities of (May 22, 2021) by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome:
One of the most sobering questions a Leader can ask is, “What am I building?”
Is it merely a structure, a system of programs, or is it a dynamic soul-winning
structure aligned with Kingdom expansion purpose? As leaders, we can easily get
caught up in administrative duties. While they are important, without excellent
guidance, they can inadvertently cause us to lose sight of the very heartbeat
of the Gospel, which is reaching the lost. In the Rhapsody of Realities article
titled “All About Soul Winning” (May 22, 2021), Our Dear Man of God, Pastor
Chris Oyakhilome reminded us that we are commissioned of God to take the
message of salvation to others. Pastor Chris states plainly, “your life should
be about soul winning; dedicate your time, effort, and resources to it”.
Our Lord Jesus is coming soon, and our job is to take the message of His saving
power to the ends of the earth. He gave us a job to do, and we must be about
this job.” This is a clarion call that demands serious reflection: Is your
cell, outreach or church primarily focused on this divine mandate?
Our Dear Man of God have stated in several fora that soul winning is the most
important thing, we must individually and collectively embark on. The
resurrection of Jesus Christ launched a new era in which the Church’s primary
mission is to harvest souls. This perspective is a vital corrective to any
tendency among leaders to prioritize organizational growth or popularity above
the foundational work of winning souls.
The Rhapsody article makes it clear that our job
is to win and bring them into the kingdom. To help leaders understand the
urgency and nature of soul winning, Pastor Chris draws us to the example of
Jesus and His interactions with people during His earthly ministry. One
poignant illustration is Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well in John
chapter 4. Jesus, though tired and physically worn, John 4:6 intentionally
broke cultural norms and personal comfort to engage one soul with compassion
and truth. This interaction not only brought the message to one individual but
an entire town. If the Son of God made soul winning a priority despite His own
weariness, how much more should we make it the centerpiece in our and cells,
outreaches and Churches?
